Our Belltown Dispatch online "neighblog" experiment (2008-2010) was inspired by and named in honor of previous Belltown neighborhood efforts. The Belltown Brain Fever Dispatch first appeared in August 1990. Elaine Bonow, co-founder of the Belltown Messenger (2003-present), started the paper with Kevin Colby, and he took it over and ran it as the Regrade Dispatch, The Dispatch, The Regrade Pioneer Square Market Dispatch, Belltown's Dispatch and Belltown's Regrade Dispatch until 2000, when it became (under new ownership) The Denny Regrade Belltown Paper, which folded in 2005. And in the old days there was a short-lived newspaper called the Puget Sound Dispatch (1871-1882).

Here are three issues (see photo above) of Kevin's short-lived photocopied spin-off of the Belltown Dispatch in the archives, all with different names: The Denny Regrade Neighborhood's Belltown News & Police Report, The Denny Regrade's Belltown News & Police Report and The Denny Regrade Neighborhood's Belltown News. So that makes eight different names that Kevin used. Fun!
